Join West London Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! as they host a film screening to celebrate the life of Claudia Jones. While she is best known for founding Notting Hill Carnival, she was a communist who openly used Marxist and Leninist frameworks to make huge contributions to understanding the role that capitalism plays in exploiting the working class such as the ‘triple oppression’ of sexism, racism and classism that non-white women face and the need to recognise all three to build genuine solidarity against Imperialism.
After the film screening there will be an interactive discussion surrounding her legacy and how her ideas can be applied today.
